New Review: Palmira Barbecue

Beef barbecoa and cotechino sausage with beans and collards at Palmira Barbecue
My latest review for the Post and Courier just hit the web, and it's for a new barbecue joint that recently landed in a rather unexpected location in downtown Charleston: in a recently launched food hall just off the City Market.

It's called Palmira Barbecue, and the offering, which blends traditional South Carolina and Texas styles with owner/pitmaster Hector Garate's Puerto Rican heritage, is very impressive and very much in step with the current barbecue aesthetic. I'm predicting Palmira is not only going to become an important local player but is a harbinger of a renewed burst of energy on Charleston's barbecue scene.
